Laurel Wiers

LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Laurel Wiers received her master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from East Carolina University.

Laurel was excited to learn about ART in 2016 and is passionate about how it transformed her work with clients who have experienced trauma.  After years of feeling like something was missing in her work with trauma clients, her experience and confidence changed immediately after being trained in ART.  She now finds her work with trauma clients to be rewarding and energizing.  As a result of her work with first responders in her community, there has been a growing awareness of the effectiveness of ART as a trusted modality to help those who have PTSD.

Her professional experiences include being trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) as a certified Master Accelerated Resolution Therapist, a Basic ART Trainer as well as Sensations Awareness Focused Technique Trainer (SAF-T) and a Certified Gottman Instructor.  She is also the author or Betrayed, Not Broken (Morgan James Publishing, 2015) and has held the position of adjunct instructor in the past at both East Carolina University and Mitchell College.

Laurel currently serves as a counselor and director at Lighthouse Counseling in Groton, CT, a group practice she established in 2009.  She has more than 20 years of professional experience working in private practice treating individuals, couples and families. She currently specializes in PTSD and helping couples work through infidelity. Her main therapeutic approaches are solution-focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
