Lorene Heuvelman-Hutchinson

EdD, PsyD

Dr. Heuvelman-Hutchinson started advancing her education at Illinois State University after earning her
undergraduate degree in 1988 in psychology. She stayed there to earn her Master’s degree in clinical
psychology in 1990. She went on to further study in school psychology to work with children and
adolescents at University of South Florida earning her EdS. Lorene worked for many years as a school
psychologist in FL, GA, and SC helping children, families, teachers, and schools make an impact in the
lives of the typically developing child as well as those with a continuum of challenges. Lorene ran a
private practice in Florida as a school psychologist for many years.
As an Army wife, Lorene traveled and lived all over the United States and Europe. The moves allowed
Lorene an opportunity to teach soldiers and their families at a variety of universities that cater to the
soldier. Her love of teaching encouraged her to complete her doctoral degree in education. Teaching has
always been a passion.
While teaching at North Greenville University from 2014-2022, Lorene was simultaneously running her
private practice office, Upstate Mental Wellness in Simpsonville SC, and fell more and more in love with
meeting the needs of clients. She went back to college in 2017 to earn her doctorate in clinical
psychology and during her studies, she took Accelerated Resolution Therapy training to become a
Master trained therapist.
After being so moved by the change this therapy brings, Lorene decided to study this technique in her
dissertation. The results were astonishing and forced Lorene to marry her love of teaching to her love of
therapy by becoming a trainer of ART.
