Refine. Respond. Reach: ART Beyond the Basics
This two-hour intermediate training is designed for ART-trained clinicians who know the protocol but want greater confidence navigating the less predictable moments that occur in real sessions. Using a Recognition → Protocol → Response framework, participants will practice identifying what is happening when processing appears stuck, clients report “nothing” or “I don’t know,” new scenes or layers emerge, imagery is difficult to access, or distress increases. The course reviews clinical application of ART tools and decision points including target selection, Scene Match, Director Scene, imagery and rescripting, and selection of ART interventions such as Little Liar, Script to Move a Stubborn Sensation and Augmenting Interventions. Emphasis is placed on staying oriented to the ART protocol, recognizing which scripted option fits the client’s presentation, and using clinical judgment without unnecessarily moving away from the protocol.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Differentiate common client responses during ART to determine the appropriate next step.
  2. Apply the Recognition → Protocol → Response framework to common ART challenges and clinical decision points.
  3. Identify when specific ART interventions may be appropriate based on client presentation and response.
