Annie Dries
LCP
Dr. Annie Dries is a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Grapevine, Texas and a virtual practice in Rhode Island. Annie is passionate about spreading Accelerated Resolution Therapy as it has transformed her practice and helped so many of her clients to move beyond obstacles that felt insurmountable without ART. Annie found ART when she sought out a brain-based technique for addressing her client’s symptoms in a way that talk therapy could not. Annie is so thankful for the creation of this amazing therapy. Annie’s teaching style is engaging, relatable, and meets trainees where they are in order to ensure that they feel competent and empowered to start using ART as soon as they leave training. Annie is able to explain concepts in ways that make them memorable with many examples from her own work with clients. Annie uses ART frequently in her practice and has worked with clients ages 5 and up to treat a multitude of concerns from phobias, to trauma, to substance abuse, to persistent symptoms of OCD, depression, and anxiety.
Annie began her career in the field of mental health in 2001. She worked with truant youths, and their families. She next worked as a mental health technician in a forensic unit with patients who were found incompetent to proceed to trial. This work propelled Annie toward the pursuit of her doctoral degree in psychology. Annie specialized in clinical psychology with a concentration in Organizational Leadership. While studying, Annie worked as an in-home family therapist for cases ordered by child protective services and the juvenile court system. Annie worked in community mental health for her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral internships. She received specialized training in play therapy during her pre-doctoral internship. Annie has taught psychology and behavioral science courses at the college level and enjoys teaching others as she always walks away learning something from her students. Annie opened her private practice in 2020. Annie works with couples, individuals and organizations. She also enjoys helping fellow clinicians by way of supervision, case consultation and business mentoring. She has a strong focus on systems and relationships. Annie adapts her approach for the needs of each client and works through a Humanistic lens. She helps her clients to increase insight, improve perspective taking ability, and develop deeper empathy for themselves and others.
Annie’s work makes her ever more appreciative of her husband of 22 years and their two boys. Annie is an animal lover. Right now, she has two Persian cats who are both ‘rescues’. In her free time, Annie enjoys camping, hiking, exercising with friends, baking, and cooking special meals.
