Kim Johnson graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky in May of 1996 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology.  Kim worked for 3 years in a psychology department for a group home facility in Lexington until she began working toward her Masters in Social Work from the University of Kentucky (UK) in Lexington in 1999.  She worked full time for the Social Security Administration as a Disability Examiner while finishing her Masters in Social Work.  Kim gradated from UK in 2001 with her MSW and began working for Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital where she served as the social worker for a day treatment program for 5 years.  Kim then became the Senior Social worker for Pediatric Oncology/Hematology at the University of Kentucky in June of 2006 and was in this position until March of 2010.

Kim finished her LCSW requirements while serving this population and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in February of 2009, she was then recruited to work with the General Pediatrics department to create a behavioral health program with in pediatrics, where she stayed until October of 2015. After doing some part time work in a private practice in Lexington, Kentucky while working at UK she went full time with this private practice.

Out of identifying the need of her own community and the lack of available mental health services in Georgetown, where she has lived the majority of her life, she established Georgetown Counseling Services, LLC., the summer of 2016.  Since establishing Georgetown Counseling Services her practice quickly grew to 8 therapists and several staff and they serve children, teens, adults, couples and families in Scott County and the surrounding Counties with a variety of evidence based practices.  Kim also supervises certified social workers in her practice as they work on obtaining their licensure.
