Laura Malvey
LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
For 15 years, Laura has practiced clinical therapy in a variety of settings, including: residential treatment, public school systems, foster care, community mental health, child development/assessment clinic, and private practice. She obtained her undergraduate and master’s degree in Social Welfare from the University at Albany (NY) and has worked in rural areas as well as large cities. Laura has received additional training in Structural Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, EMDR Therapy (EMDRIA Certified), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) (Advanced and Enhanced Certified), and Neurofeedback. Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback that can be used as a stand-alone intervention or as an adjunct to psychotherapy. Neurofeedback helps the brain learn more optimal methods of functioning so that individuals are better able to maintain a state that is calm and focused. Neurofeedback is used for a broad spectrum of needs, from developmental trauma and affect regulation, to athletic and intellectual performance enhancement.
Laura specializes in treating trauma and is excited to offer interventions such as EMDR and ART which help resolve the traumatic material, as opposed to “living with” and learning to manage symptoms.
