Michael Porterfield
LICSW-S, LCSW, PIP
Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Troy University in 2013 and his Master of Social Work, also from Troy University, in 2016. Since then, he has built a diverse clinical background spanning hospice, home health, long-term care behavioral health, and outpatient behavioral health settings.
Michael took his Basic Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) training in October 2025 and instantly fell in love with the modality. Motivated by a desire to sharpen his clinical skills and a growing need among clients seeking real resolution from trauma, he pursued Advanced ART training in February 2026 and became a certified ART Trainer shortly after.
He owns Let’s Talk Support Services, a private practice based in Dothan, Alabama, where he sees clients across Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. In addition to his clinical work, Michael serves as an adjunct professor teaching undergraduate social work.
Michael primarily works with adult clients, and he specializes in trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and life stress. For clients who desire it, he also integrates a Christian perspective into treatment.
Michael’s approach is collaborative, encouraging, and direct, grounded in a strong belief in the power of the therapeutic alliance. His goal for every client is simple: to help them find healing and hope again.
