Katie graduated from Grand Canyon University with a master’s degree in Professional Counseling and is licensed as an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor (ACMHC) in the state of Utah.
Katie received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah where she became a licensed and certified Recreation Therapist. She loves to incorporate movement into her practice by going on walks during the therapy session. Katie truly believes in the healing power of connection, movement, breathing in the mountain air. Her main goal is to help lead clients to increased self-love and the confidence to live an empowered life.
In addition to talk therapy and walk & talk therapy, Katie has specialized training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Eye Movement Desensitization, and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) to help process trauma. ART is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals reconsolidate traumatic memories so they no longer elicit strong emotional or physical responses. This allows thoughts to change naturally and enables individuals to experience post-traumatic growth. ART therapy can be helpful for depression, anxiety, trauma, and any distressing feelings or scenes. ART is a new therapy to Utah, but not to the greater United States, and is shown to achieve benefits much more rapidly than traditional talk therapy (usually within 1-5 sessions). More information about ART can be found here.
