Mary Whelan, MSW, RSW, is a Clinical Social Worker and trauma therapist who lives in  Marystown, Newfoundland, Canada. She has been a registered social worker for 28 years with 16 exclusively  providing complex trauma counselling to all ages. Her passion is in counselling adult survivors of childhood physical, sexual and emotional abuse as well as healing acute psychological trauma injuries for first responder’s, veterans, RCMP, Canadian Armed and Forces.   She has been counselling in complex trauma for over 30 years.  Mary is a Master Certified Accelerated Resolution Therapist (ART) and Lead ART Trainer.  She was one of the first to introduce ART”s as a modality in Newfoundland and Labrador through her private clinic, A.R.T. NL. and in her role as a clinical trauma specialist (Social Worker III) with NL Health Services where currently is explored for the past 28 years. She completed a Masters of Social Work through Wilfrid Laurier University courses, where she achieved consistent A+ grades throughout her studies. her studies focused on trauma counselling, research methods 1 and 2, as well as Advanced Individual Counselling and Crisis Intervention. She has written articles for the NLCSW, and IS-RART on A.R.T. Healing powers. In January 2026, she will be featured in an exclusive interview with Roger’s Television explaining about  A.R.T., and  how it is  known to be “Too good to be true”. Her skill and passion for healing is documented by her students and clients. As well, her passion for professional teaching and mentoring shows in her healing based, retreat style trainings and in her follow up intensive clinical consultation and supervision for those who practice A.R.T. in Newfoundland and Labrador.
